FAQ

  1. Do I need an appointment to use WorkNet?
No! WorkNet is open to the public during regular agency hours. First time visitors are asked to complete a First Time Visitor Registration form and then they are given a tour of the resources. If visitors feel they need additional assistance, they may make an appointment with one of our friendly, knowledgeable staff members.

  2. Is there a fee for WorkNet services?
No! There are no fees for job seeker or business services through WorkNet. There are, however, limitations on the number of paper copies permitted in one business day.

  3. Are there any eligibility requirements for using WorkNet?
No! WorkNet welcomes all job seekers regardless of income, employment, and residential status. Customers wishing to use WorkNet do not have to be on any type of public assistance nor reside in Fairfield County.

  4. What should I bring with me to WorkNet?
Because WorkNet often has employers onsite conducting open interviews and accepts applications and resumes for many local employers, we encourage our job seeking customers to bring copies of their resume.
If you do not have a resume, bring information related to your work and education experiences and our staff can show you how to create a professional resume during your visit.

  5. I am not comfortable using a computer, can I still use WorkNet?
Yes! WorkNet has a variety of resources for people with all levels of computer skills. Besides using a computer, you can find job leads through our job listings printed in books, newspapers, and a bulletin board. Our friendly, knowledgeable staff can assist you if you would like to try using the computer. We also offer an Introduction to Computer Basics workshop one time per month.

  6. Can someone help me create a resume?
Yes! WorkNet has many valuable resources to help job seekers create a professional resume suited to their line of work. Customers wishing to create a resume may first look through the many examples available through books, newspapers, and videos. Secondly, WorkNet offers a Resume Worksheet customers can complete to insure they have all of the necessary information. After your worksheet is complete, one of our staff members can show you how to operate the ResumeMaker® Professional 12.0 software. The ResumeMaker® Professional 12.0 software allows users to input their information by filling in blanks and then helps users format their resume according to their preferences.

WorkNet’s friendly and knowledgeable staff is available to review your resume and help you make any necessary changes.

  7. How do I file for Unemployment Compensation?
To file a new application to receive Ohio unemployment benefits or to reopen an existing Ohio claim, there are several options to chose from. You may access their website 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at http://unemployment.ohio.gov. Limited service may be available while the system is being updated nightly. You may also file by telephone at 1-877-644-6562 or TTY: 1-888-642-8203. Telephones are available Monday through Friday (except on holidays) between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Peak call times are Monday and Tuesday. For faster service, call on Wednesday or Thursday or file online. When you call, please have paper and pencil available.

  8. What do I do if I have problems or questions concerning my Unemployment benefits?
You will need to contact your processing center. Your processing center’s phone number should be on any mail you have received from the Unemployment office. If you cannot locate the correct number, you may call WorkNet to be directed at (740) 689-2494 or 800-450-8845 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
